Arranjos para Assobio

Arranjos para Assobio is an academic project of poetic textures and experimental realities, carried out by the Brazilian poets Antônio Bizerra, Lucas Magdiel, Márcio-André, Romulo Viana and Victor Paes. This project is linked to Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and it is under professor Manuel Antônio de Castro academic orientation. The group proposal, which was founded in 2004 by Márcio and Victor, is to transit in the space among all the languages of artistic domain, taking as a starting point the poetry. Despite the relationship with contemporary art tendencies, the group turns to what is the most fundamental and primordial aspect according to poetic creation: the inter-relation with theatre, dance, chant and music, as they were represented together in Greek tragedy. The originary poet-singer comprehension, as obvious as inaugural, comes after several ways of research and inspiration: from motz el son of provençal troubadours to nô theatre, assuming Buddhist and indigenous chants, repentes from Brazil Northeast, eletro-accoustic music, serialism and minimalism. Concerning the compositions, always based on poems, words are shaped as the beginning of the arrangements. Phonic and imagistic suggestions create gestures, movements, voice divisions, compositions. Throughout this process everything is allowed: shouts, recordings, noises, dissonances, electronic interferences, projections, scenic movements and re-appropriations of others composers. The researching of new interpretative possibilities of poetry guides the group to the meeting with new sound textures, making use of unwonted instruments, as tin cans, broom hafts, water gallons, wine bottles, cage bottoms, bicycles, PVC tubes.
